Dave passed away at his home Tuesday October 29, 2024. He was born in Grand Rapids Mi. on April 4, 1952. Dave was preceded in death by his parents Kenneth & Lilian Engebretsen and sister Sandra Sluiter.
He will be missed by his wife of 46 years, Deb, along with son David (Arce) and daughter Lori. Grandsons: Ashton, Skyler, Nathan, Devan and Hezekiah. His sisters Christine (Bill) Bennett and Rita Chapman and brother Ken E. (Deb) Engebretsen.
Dave loved his children and grandchildren very much and enjoyed teaching them when he was working on a project. If they were learning something in school, he loved to give them his view and tell them what he knew about the topic, especially when it came to our great country.
Dave loved music, he played drums for many years professionally, then for Church praise bands after his salvation in 1977, as well as playing the banjo. He worked at many different companies, mostly being service manager. One of the highlights was working at Stone Mountain Harley Davidson, which gave him great joy because of his love of riding his bike. Among the many places we rode together were Mackinac Island for the midnight ride, leaving Grand Rapids Mi at midnight and arriving after sunrise. Several times back and forth to Michigan after our move to GA in April of 2002, to Key West, FL; Gatlinburg, TN; Dahlonega GA; Newport News, VA. And there were many more rides that bikers put on, with tons of shorter rides, as we enjoyed the great outdoors.
In his later years, Dave’s passion was restoring old military vehicles. We also enjoyed camping with the Steel Soldiers group in Durhamtown which is an off–road resort (rustic) in East GA. We spent several days there in October for several years. We also took David’s boys camping several times at Stone Mountain Park in Stone Mountain, GA.

We will miss Dave, he would be super grumpy but ALWAYS give me a smile, and I loved that! I appreciated when he told us stories, sharing with us things from his past. Thanks to Deb for trusting us and being so kind and patient with everything we put in front of her and Dave. We appreciate you both and will be thinking of you.
