David James Hills, age 59, passed away on February 1, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. A longtime resident of Georgia, David passed surrounded by family and friends.
David was born in Dearborn, Michigan on October 17, 1961. A devoted swimmer, David continues to hold the Wayne High record for 500yd free. He was recruited to swim for the Clemson University swim team.
David was the proud father of two sons, David Jr. and Joshua. He dedicated his life to the boys and could often be found volunteering at his sons’ numerous activities. Together they spent many weekends hiking and camping throughout the southeast.
David is survived by his parents George and Patricia Hills of Greenville, SC; two brothers, George (and Marie) Hills of Cincinnati, Ohio and Chris (and Lori) Hills of Charleston, South Carolina.
A celebration of life will be held once larger gatherings are permitted. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in his name.

I’m so very sorry for your loss, I know the pain is deep. David was loved by so many, a star back in our High School days…he was a gifted swimmer and beaming personality with a stellar smile. Dave was a great friend! Always happy, upbeat and positive. We had many great times together at Lake Hartwell, Clemson. Greenville, etc. Times I will never forget, and times that still make me smile! Dave had lots of friends and a loving family.
