Donald Walter Jones was born September 14, 1954 in Columbus, Georgia to the late Mary Annette Jones and James Bascom Jones. He married the love of his life, Cathy Hutchinson Jones, in 1972 and together they raised a beloved daughter, Jamie Jones. Donald worked in construction most of his career having last worked as a heavy equipment operator for Rozell Construction Company. When he wasn’t working or spending time cutting his grass, he would be found hanging at the hunting camp in Talbotton with his fellow In Rut Hunting Club members.
Donald was musically talented with a gifted voice and a self-taught drummer. You would find him often listening to his favorite country songs or jamming to his favorite band, “The Eagles.” He was known to be quite the jokester as times and enjoyed making people laugh or smile. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family.
Donald Walter Jones, 67, of Cataula, Georgia passed away October 4, 2021 at Piedmont Northside Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers; Gary Bascom Jones and Jody Jones; nephew, Gary Wayne Jones; and his faithful canine companion, “Yellow Dog.”
