January 2, 1942 – December 15, 2023
Mr. Dothel Wilson Edwards, Sr of Columbus, GA passed away quietly Friday December 15, 2023 at Archway Transitional Center in Macon, GA at the age of 81.
A native of Tuskegee, AL and the son of the late Dothel Edwards and Ruby Hall Edwards. Dothel was a 1960 graduate of Tuskegee High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Albany State University in 1973. After a stint in Army, he retired from Air Force National Guard. He eventually settled in Athens, GA with his family where he retired from the City of Athens as director of solid waste and recycling. His last ten years was spent in Montgomery AL.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his children son, Dothel Wilson Edwards, Jr. of Columbus, GA and daughter Yolanda Vanessa Edwards (Steven Gregory) of Winston Salem, NC, his sister, Betty Stearns (Thomas) of Fayetteville, GA along with his grandchildren Jonah Edwards, Micah Edwards, and Abigail Edwards.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 29th, 2023, at Cox Funeral Home in Hamilton, Georgia. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M.
