Ellicia Maria Rowell was born February 2, 1964 in Bronx, New York to the late Rose Delores Spencer Battles and Willie Battles. She showed a strong work ethic from the time she was a little girl up until her health began to decline. She was a cosmetologist by trade and enjoyed making other beautiful things,  whether implementing a new style or offering her kind companionship and uplifting spirit.

Ellicia was a devout woman of faith. Oftentimes, when she wasn’t working, she was nose deep in her Bible studying the Word. You would often find her dancing and singing to her favorite Gospel hits. She fell in love with “Leave the Door Open” by Bruno Mars.

Family has always been her greatest joy. She was a caregiver at heart and always was willing to help those when she was able. She enjoyed spending time in the kitchen and keeping her home tidy. Crocheting was another hobby she enjoyed over the years.

Ellicia Maria Rowell, 57, of Columbus, Georgia passed away June 5, 2021 at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Paul and William Battles.

Survivors include her children: Keith Brunson and Denecia Hopkins; siblings: Joanne Wilson and Wayne Steeps; nieces: Tezella Comeaux (husband Duane) and Tyeshia Battles; nephew: Carlton Wilson (wife Syntyche); great nieces and nephews: Khalil McQueen, Kendrick McQueen, Kristal McQueen, Kendall McQueen, Camille Horne, Dasjah Wimberly and Camari Mosley; sister-in-law: Allison Battles; best friend: Ben Jamma Claude; numerous extended family and friends, and her beloved feline companion, Kareem.

The family will be holding private services.
