Evelyn Ann Stevenson

Share

Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

Evelyn Stevenson, age 89, of Peachtree City, GA, left this world peacefully on Saturday, January 11, 2025.

Evelyn was born in Madison, WI, and grew up in Tucson around the University of Arizona campus where her father taught. Evelyn and Kenny married in their early 20’s and owned a successful auto parts business for more than 35 years. They enjoyed traveling, especially across the US, Mexico, Canada, and Europe. Evelyn spent decades as an active member of Assistance League and Garden Club. She loved to be in nature and spent many hours gardening and teaching her grandchildren about desert plants and wildlife. She was a consummate host, whether it was a big party or an intimate dinner. And she loved to play bridge with lifelong friends that started playing in their 20’s. But her true passion was for her children. As a family they enjoyed many trips, picnics at Mt. Lemon or Sabino Canyon, and their weekly dinners at Casa Molina.

She is survived by her daughter: Vicki (Steve) Troyer, and her son Jeff (Terri) Stevenson; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years: Kenneth; her twin sister: Eleanor; and her brother: Richard.

The family will hold a private service in early April at Christ Church United Methodist, with a celebration of life following the private service.

I can hardly see the screen to type…for my tears. You know I loved Evelyn, and we shared so many wonderful experiences. I’ve been concerned about her when I was not able to reach her to chat. She did love her family!!! Please keep us posted about the ceremony at the Christ Methodist Church. Love and hugs to each family member. She was LOVED by many!

Evelyn and Kenny were good friends during high school, college, and for many years after that. So sorry to learn of her passing. Evelyn and Eleanor were very close and loyal friends to many and I regret that we did not stay in contact.
Evelyn will be missed by all of us.

Vicki, Jeff and families, we are so sorry for the loss of your beautiful mother and grandmother . We had not heard from Evelyn for a few years and wondered about her. We had a lot of fun with your mom and dad when they visited Canada and also when we visited Arizona. Your dad had passed and when we visited Evelyn at her home. She took us to the Arizona SAGUARO NATIONAL Park, where we spent a wonderful day. After we went to a delicious Mexican Restaurant and she assisted us ordering our food and drink. When your mom and dad visited Calgary for the last time before Kenny got sick, we took them to the Smugglers Inn because Kenny wanted a great Alberta Beefsteak before leaving Canada. We were with Wayne and Louise that evening. Evelyn gave me the best hint that evening. I told them that our grandchildren were going to live far from Gerry and me. She said that her grandchildren lived far from her and Kenny as well. She said I should mail them cards such as Valentine’s to keep in touch. Evelyn, said you don’t have to spend a lot to keep in touch but mailing cards lets them know you are thinking of them. She told me that is how she kept in touch with her grandchildren! She showed us the way to keep in touch with our grandchildren, which we’ll always be grateful for. Even though Kenny was 1st cousins with Gerry and Wayne’s mother Irene, he was closer in age to Wayne, so we got along famously. Distance separated us but we always thought of your parents as close cousins. We are so sorry for the loss of your beautiful, intelligent, energetic mother. We have missed receiving Evelyn’s beautiful Christmas cards filled with news about her family. We are sure your dad was waiting to wrap his heavenly arms around your mom. They were so much in love. May they both rest in peace.
