Ezell Ramsey, Jr. was born on April 22, 1945, to the late Ezell Sr. and Samella Ramsey in Gary, Indiana both preceded him in death. He was the oldest child in a family of three siblings. His brother, Richard Ramsey (Linda), preceded him in death, San Bonita Griffin (sister), and Bernard Ramsey (brother).
Ezell was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1963 where he excelled in track and field and football. He married the love of his life Sandra Ramsey, on September 28th, 1968, she preceded him in death. To this union three children were born: Ezell III (Nakia) Ramsey, Daniel (Tameca) Ramsey, and Raymon (Rachel) Ramsey.
Ezell was a respected Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He then became an employee of LTV Steel as a Machinist where he retired after 25 years of service. Ezell served as Precinct Committeeman for the West Side of Gary, Indiana for multiple terms. He was loved and respected by those he worked with.
Ezell enjoyed coaching his sons and young men in football. He enjoyed watching sports as well as discussing politics. Ezell relocated to Lawrenceville, Georgia to be closer to his family. He was called to eternal rest on January 24, 2025.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: his three sons Ezell (Nakia) Ramsey III of Mableton, GA, Daniel (Tameca) Ramsey of Grayson, GA, Raymon (Rachel) Ramsey of Florida. His four grandchildren Ezell Ramsey IV, Tyerra Drake, Jada Ford, Kiya Dunigan; one sister, San Bonita Griffin of Dallas, TX; one brother, Bernard Ramsey of Ft. Wayne, IN; a host of nieces and nephews.
