He retired after 30 years while serving at Columbus Jr High, Hardaway High School, Rothschild Middle School, Daniel Middle School and the Alternative School.
He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and baseball fan. He played college baseball at both Columbus College and Troy. He spearheaded the Jordan High School Athletic Hall of Fame and worked tirelessly for this effort. Later in life George enjoyed playing Senior slow pitch softball and took pride in watching his son and grandchildren play soccer.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends but by George’s wishes there will be no funeral or memorial service. His family asks that anyone wanting to celebrate George make a donation to the Jordan High School Athletic Hall of Fame ( JVHS Hall of Fame PO Box 4006 Columbus Ga 31914) or Columbus Hospice.
Georgia Cremation-Columbus assisted the family with the arrangements.

George was often at our home in Double Churches as we were growing up. Our family all loved him very much. He was a great friend to my older brother and sister and I’m sure I was a nuisance…but he was always supportive and kind. Please know his family and friends are in our prayers.
Sincerely, Angela Johnston Patrick, Kathy Johnston Ray, John Johnston and Tim Akin

George is one of the last “Old school” administrators in MCSD. He was a no nonsense kind of guy who was always a pleasure to be around. I heard many stories about George Casion from Mr. Screws before I had the pleasure of meeting him. I will miss our conversations at Cook’s Hotdogs. Thank you George.

I first knew George growing up in the Double Churches community and went to school with his younger sister. My husband met him through sports and their careers in education. His mother-in-law and father-in-law were also the sweetest neighbors when they moved near us.He was a good guy from a fine family. We are praying for you all.
