Gerald “Jerry” Robert Stough, 74, of Duluth, passed away on April 22, 2023, from cancer.
Jerry was born in York, PA until his family relocated to Atlanta, GA when he was a young child. He then moved to Arlington, VA and Charlotte, NC later on in his life with hopes of retiring with his wife to the Space Coast of Florida.
Jerry married Saleta Smith in 1995. At the time of their marriage, Jerry had three daughters, Kristen, Amanda, and Ashley and Saleta had a son, Nickolaos. Together they had a son, Patrick. Jerry was passionate about and loved the blended family he and Saleta put together. He was an avid history buff and while his children were growing up would take trips to see historical monuments and battlefields. The DC Metro area was one of his favorite places to live for this reason. When he moved to DC out of college, he was fortunate enough to help open the Kennedy Center. Jerry loved taking long drives on the weekends with Saleta and his family to see the mountains or the coast or just explore a place they’d never been to before. Jerry attended 12 Stone church and served on the Care Team for several years. He loved listening to Christian music and praising the Lord in church.
Jerry worked in the accounting industry and most recently was an on-line entrepreneur focused on health and wellness products, which became a passion after he was diagnosed with Leukemia. Jerry attended Auburn University and graduated from Georgia State with a Bachelors in Accounting and was a former CPA.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Saleta Stough, and five children: Kristen Stough (granddaughter Peyton), Amanda Parker (husband Chris), Ashley Stough (fur babies Axle and Harley), Nickolaos Kouvaris (wife Haley), and Patrick Stough (fiancée Kristy Mallette and granddaughter Amelia); and in-laws (Norman and Mary Katherine Smith), sister-in-law (Kathy Veasey and her daughters), brother-in-law (Howell Smith and wife Angela and their sons); and sister (Melinda Dale and husband Bill). He was preceded in death by his father (Roy), mother (Mary), and oldest sister (Barbara Elrod).
A celebration of life for Jerry will be held at 12Stone Church Buford (2565 Buford Hwy NE, Buford, GA 30518) on Friday at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Diamonds Over Georgia, a local pediatric cancer charity Jerry and his family are passionate about.
Georgia Cremation in Duluth assisted the family with end of life arrangements.
