On September 14, 2021, heaven welcomed a loving, gentle soul, Gladys Edith Carter.
Born March 1, 1926, she was one of 11 children growing up during the Great Depression. Gladys was lucky enough to have two wonderful, loving husbands, Herbert Cook and Joe Carter, both deceased. She is survived by her daughters Jane Harkins and Joni (Tommy) Mann and son, Danny (Lynn) Carter, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and two sisters, Novis Scott and Linda Bell, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Family was her life and you could see the sparkle in her eyes anytime she saw a child. She loved sewing, cooking and canning and she taught herself to play the piano, guitar and do-bro. She loved playing with her brothers in their own family band.
Per her wishes, she will be laid to rest at a private graveside service. Special thanks to Azalea Estates Assisted Living, Southern Grace Hospice, Southwest Christian Care, and her loving sitters, JJ, Robin, and Janette who treated her with true love and dignity. Contributions in her honor may be made to Southwest Christian Care, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, GA 30291. Arrangements by Georgia Cremation, Fayetteville, GA. Messages of condolence may be left at www.GeorgiaCremation.com.
