Gloria Belle Plummer Birdsong, 95, of Fayetteville, passed away June 8, 2017.
Gloria was born on October 31, 1921 in Meridian, Mississippi to the late William and Jimmie Plummer. She was a brilliant student and graduated with honors from high school in Meridian, MS. She continued a lifetime of learning. Immediately after high school she joined the WWII war effort, serving in many support positions for the military.
She was an excellent competitive bridge player to the end. Additionally she was an extraordinaire dancer, considered by many to be the best dancer by her peers.
She was preceded in death by her daughter: Dena P. Haugh; her beloved siblings: James, Dena, Bill and her identical twin sister Doria. Gloria was the last of her generation in our family and was loved by all.
Her survivors include her son: Charles and his wife Joan; grandsons: Eric and Trevor Birdsong, Shannon and Brandon Chatham; granddaughters: Sara Birdsong and Christine Chatham, great-grandchildren: Trielle, Josh and Savannah Chatham; many nieces and nephews.
A family graveside service will be held at a future date at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian, MS. Memorial contributions may be made to the church of your choice.
The Birdsong family is being assisted by Georgia Cremation, 1086 Highway 54 West, Fayetteville.
