Homer C. Wise, Jr, age 77, of Duluth, Georgia passed away on October 10, 2021.
Homer was born on April 4, 1944 in Wichita Falls, TX to parents, Wanda Roberts and Homer C. Wise, Sr. He is a veteran of the Vietnam War and served honorably in the Marines, achieving the rank of Corporal. For his service, he earned the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. Homer’s experience in the Marines taught him the value of working hard his entire life and always providing the best for his family.
After his service, Homer obtained his Commercial Drivers License and spent most of his career driving semi-trucks. In 2018, he retired from driving semi-trucks and began driving a school bus for Gwinnett County Public Schools for special needs transportation.
Homer spent most of his free time relaxing, watching TV shows and cable channels that took him back to the “good ole days”. He enjoyed collecting Elvis Presley memorabilia from a very early age and he has an extensive collection that he was always proud to show off. Homer also enjoyed spending many nights with his family playing, “Name That Tune” with his old time records.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jeanie Wallace; and son, Homer C. Wise, III.
Homer is survived by his sister, Cathy Wise; brother, Jimmy Wise; children, Rhonda Wise, Christina Wise and Jeff Odom; grandchildren, Rosa Seagraves, Joshua Roberts, John Wise, Jeffrey Odom, Michael Odom, Chelsea Odom and Ashley Braithwaite; and five great-grandchildren.
A “Celebrate of Life” will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 300 Simonton Road, SW, Lawrenceville, GA. Viewing and visitation at 1 PM; Celebration of Life/Memorial Service to begin promptly at 2 PM.

I got to know Homer very well when we worked together delivering lunches during the beginning of the pandemic. He was always very friendly, caring and had a great sense of humor. He will be missed.

Homer was a true patriot, he had a great love for family and country. His work ethic and dedication was unbelievable, always at work, always dedicated to work responsibilities . He was respected by lots of drivers.
A man of few words with a great love of family and togetherness.
As I rode his bus yesterday I felt a strong sense of hope and faith.
