Iris Isabel Santos

Share

Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

Iris Isabel Santos, 85, of Jonesboro, GA, passed away on January 30, 2026.

Iris was born August 19, 1940, in Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, to Isabelino and Filomena (Velez) Santos. She grew up in New York and Puerto Rico, alongside her parents, brothers, and sister. Iris graduated from New York High school in 1958. She spent her entire working career as a professional Seamstress, creating works of art that nothing could compare to.

Iris met the love of her life while living in New York. The couple were married for 19 years and welcomed three amazing children into this world. Some of Iris’ most memorable places she called home were Bronx, NY, Puerto Rico, and for the last eleven years right here in Georgia.

Ms. Santos was a devout Catholic all of her life. Her hobbies included baseball, boxing, reading, and dancing. She enjoyed baseball so much that she supported her husband with community Little League baseball. She spent her last years knitting things for her family, reading her favorite kinds of books, and listening to music that was good for her soul.

Iris was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sons: Mario Rodriguez and wife Yoli of Jonesboro, GA and Jose Rodriguez of Boston, MA; her daughter: Iris Rodrigues Jones and husband Emmanuel Jones of Jonesboro, Ga; her grandchildren: Maria Isabel, Maria Angelica, Karen Rodriguez (and 3 children); her great-grandchildren: Juan Enrique, Angel, Eric, Giannie; and her adoring dog(Blue).

Iris Isabel Santos will forever be remembered as  an amazing mother who provided high moral values and respect to others and as her family’s protector.

The Santos family is being assisted by Georgia Cremation – Fayetteville, 1086 Hwy 54 W, Fayetteville, GA 30214.

Mom, we love you I am your 1st, we did 5 generations alive. The same day you closed your eyes we were going to give you the news that you were going to become a great, great great (tatara abuela) from your great grandaughter Angel Leonara. My mom was born in Vega Baja Puerto Rico.
