It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to James Charles Carey Jr., a beacon of love, compassion, and unwavering friendship. On March 11th, 2024, James embarked on his final journey, leaving behind a legacy of love that will forever illuminate our hearts.
From his earliest days, James’s indomitable spirit and unwavering dedication shone brightly. In 1979, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the military at Fort Dix, New Jersey, where he embarked on a path of honor and service. His thirst for knowledge led him to Columbus Technical College, where he graduated in 2003 with an associate’s degree in Computer Information Technology and earned certification as a Microsoft Certified Engineer, Armed with unparalleled expertise, James embarked on a fulfilling career in the field of computer information, leaving an indelible mark on the industry he loved.
In 2003, fate intervened, guiding James to a serendipitous encounter with Vanessa at a Sci-Fi club meeting his soul mate and confidante. Their love story blossomed over slices of pizza at CiCis Pizza, culminating in a joyous union on September 04, 2017. Together, James and Vanessa forged a bond built on love, laughter, and shared dreams, celebrating each passing year as a testament to their enduring love.
Throughout his life, James found solace and joy in simple pleasures and cherished moments spent with loved ones. An avid gamer, outdoor enthusiast, collector of military artifacts, and a gun builder, he reveled in the beauty of nature and the thrill of adventure. From exploring campsites to embarking on road trips in his beloved Class A RV, James embraced life’s adventures with open arms, leaving an indelible imprint on the hearts of all who knew him and embraced life’s adventures with boundless enthusiasm and infectious energy.
His love for family extended beyond bloodlines, as James embraced Vanessa’s children as his own, nurturing and guiding them into adulthood with unwavering love and support. His legacy of kindness and compassion lives on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and siblings, who will forever cherish the memories they shared with their beloved James. James’s true passion lay in the bonds he forged with his family and friends. A doting grandfather, he delighted in the laughter and playfulness of his grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will endure for generations to come. His compassion knew no bounds, as he generously gave of himself to those in need, offering support, kindness, and a helping hand to all who crossed his path.
James’s legacy of love and compassion lives on in the hearts of his beloved wife Vanessa, their children, and grandchildren. James Charles Carey Jr is survived by his wife, Vanessa; their children Ashley, Cesario (Kratos), Jerrica, Mario, Harry, Derick and Joshua, and Heather. 15 Fifteen grandchildren, Niyah, Orianna, Maykayla, Maria, Dejah, Aryianna, Siar, Zyon, Anthony Zeus Turner, Geraldine, Harry V, Moses, Emmanuel, Cameron, Kendall. His remaining siblings are his younger brother Charles Carey and his eldest sister Marie Bickford. James’s impact extended far beyond familial ties, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
James’s battle with cancer may have come to an end, but his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched and the memories he left behind. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of 2 South of St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, Georgia, for their compassionate care during James’s final days.
As we bid farewell to James, let us honor his memory by celebrating a life well-lived and a legacy of love that will endure for generations to come. His friends and family are invited to share happy memories and celebrate James’s life in the way he would want to be remembered – as a loving and caring man who embraced life’s adventures with open arms and a heart full of love. Forever in our hearts, James will be remembered as a beacon of kindness, compassion, and unwavering love.
