James Ferrell Berdeaux passed away on May 22, 2023 of medical complications at his daughter’s home. He was 76 years old. Born in Lapine, AL, he lived most of his life in Columbus, GA before spending his last years in Box Springs. Mr. Berdeaux was a graduate of Jordan High School and also earned a diploma from North American School of Conservation. He was a U.S. army veteran and served in Germany as a radio technician. Afterward, Ferrell became a highly experienced expert in commercial refrigeration for local dairies, and in air-conditioning for Magnolia Nursing Home where he retired.
His interests included playing guitar and singing, fishing, woodworking, fixing cars, home improvement, gardening with his wife, joy-riding, watching Nascar, and bird-watching from his porch. Ferrell loved the outdoors and making or fixing things.
Mr. Berdeaux is preceded in death by his parents McAdoo Berdeaux and Dorothy (Cowles) Berdeaux, and he is survived by his wife Ethel (Patrick) Berdeaux, his daughter Wendy (Berdeaux) Duggins, his son Ken Berdeaux, and three grandchildren, Gage Duggins, Ellie Duggins, and Jessie Berdeaux. The youngest of four, he is also survived by two sisters, Gail Hooper and Sylvia Montgomery, and a brother Edward Berdeaux.
A memorial for all who loved Mr. Berdeaux will be held at Edgewood Church of Christ in
Columbus, GA on Saturday, June 3rd at 2:00.
Georgia Cremation of Columbus, Georgia is assisting the family.
