James Holley Gresham was born June 3, 1947 in Toney, Alabama to the late Kathleen Holley Gresham and Willie Mitchell Gresham. Mr. Gresham grew up learning the value of hard work and owned and operated his Brick Masonry business for many years alongside his son. He also worked as a former security guard before his health began to fail. He was a devoted member of the Phenix City Moose Lodge. In his spare time, Mr. Gresham enjoyed spending time outdoors whether it was trying to save par on the golf course, catching fish on a local body of water, or enjoying the cool wind as he rode his motorcycle. He enjoyed travelling and cruising to new places and he was a big fan of Sci-Fi movies.
James Holley Gresham, 72, of Smith Station, Alabama passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved daughter, Connie Ann Gresham.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Marie Gresham; children, Donna Marie Montgomery, David Tommy Gresham, and James Mitchell Gresham; step-children, Shane (Angie) Kozee and Nick (Elizabeth) Kozee; grandchildren, Mitchell David Montgomery, Linda Marie Montgomery, David Tommy Gresham, II, Connie Jean Gresham, Jessica Lynn Jackson, Terri Jean Jackson, and Amanda Ray Jackson; step-grandchildren, Cameron Kozee, Jaxson Kozee, Jayden Kozee, Chancelor Kozee, and Katherine Kozee; and a host of extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 2-4 PM on Saturday, July 20th, 2019 at the Gresham Home in Smiths Station.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Columbus Hospice or if you are planning to attend the Celebration of Life service to please bring a covered dish or dessert for all to enjoy.
