Jean G. Michaels, age 94, of Peachtree City, GA. passed away on July 22, 2022.
Jean was born March 18, 1928, in Warren, AR., to the late William and Addie (Bain) Gross. She grew up in Warren alongside her sister, Aileen, and her parents. Jean graduated from Warren High School in 1946. While in school she met, fell in love with and married Robert D. Blackwood. The couple had 2 children and were married for 20 years. They left Warren in 1948 and moved to Wichita, KS., then to Marietta, GA., where she spent the next 65 years.
Jean pursued educational courses throughout her life while working in the accounting department with Lockheed Martin. She worked for Lockheed Martin for 30 years before retiring. Jean had a very special individual relationship with God and attended the Church of Christ and later on, St. James Episcopal Church in Marietta. She was also an active member of the Lockheed Martin Management Club, The Red Hat Society, and The Foxtrotters Ballroom Dance Club.
Jean loved traveling and enjoyed visiting Egypt and Old-World Greece. She spent her last years at Somerby of Peachtree City, reading and having Sunday dinners with her family. Jean was the kindest person anyone could ever meet. She was a true Southern Bell in every way.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister and her only daughter: Mary Duke.
Jean is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Don and Paulette Blackwood of Sharpsburg; and her grandson and his family: Brian and Allyson Blackwood and two great grandchildren, Caden and Lillian of Peachtree City, and grandson Ron Duke.
The Michaels family is being assisted by Georgia Cremation, 1086 Hwy 54 W, Fayetteville. Messages of condolence may be left at www.GeorgiaCremation.com.
