Mr. Jerry Michael Gunter, 61, of McDonough, passed away on January 31, 2026. Jerry was born in Royston, Georgia, on February 21, 1964, to Charles (Mickey) and Arlene (Mason) Gunter Wright. He grew up alongside his parents and brother and sister in the areas of Forest Park, Morrow, and Rex, Ga. He attended Morrow Senior High School.
Jerry had a distinguished and long-standing career in the transportation industry. He spent the past 35 years with various companies, and was currently a member of the Teamsters Local 728 where he enjoyed the opportunities of working on several movie sets and TV shows.
Jerry met his wife Stephanie while playing trivia, a game both he and Stephanie enjoyed. He was especially fond of music trivia. He would often play DJ on Facebook, posting songs and tagging friends with songs that took them back in time to a concert they had attended and other fun and fond memories they shared. Jerry was an avid concertgoer and live music enthusiast, seeing local bands anytime he got the chance. He invested in guitars and drums of his own for self-taught lessons. His greatest joy was raising his daughter, Reese, whom he loved more than anything. He was so very proud of the beautiful young lady she is becoming and her recent graduation and certification as an esthetician.
Jerry was preceded in death by his dad: Charles Michael (Mickey) Gunter; his stepfather: Frank Wright (FT); his maternal grandmother: Charlotte Brooks Mason; his grandfather: Warren Otto Mason, and his uncle Jerry Brooks Mason. He is survived by his wife: Stephanie Adams; his daughter: Reese Gunter of McDonough, Ga; his mother: Arlene Mason Wright of Rex, Ga; his brother: Paul Gunter (Wendy) of LaGrange, Ga; his sister: Mandy Rodgers of Senoia, Ga; his brother-in-law: Michael Adams (Renae) of Gordon, Ga; and several extended family members, cousins, nieces, nephews and family friends. He also leaves behind his trusted companion, Jax, whom he loved with his whole heart.
A Celebration of Life is being planned and details will be announced once finalized.

Stephanie you and Reese are in my prayers, Jerry was always so funny when he hung out with my brother at our house. I remember them always playing basketball ball together. So glad I got to see him at our class reunion last year. We as kids always called him the white prince lol purple rain. 💜
