It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry Wayne Reding, who departed peacefully on December 7, 2025, at the age of 82 in Columbus, Georgia. Born on August 23, 1943, in Anderson, Indiana to Alva and Louise Reding, Jerry grew up as a hardworking boy on a farm in Indiana, a beginning that shaped his character, his values, and the quiet strength he carried throughout his life. As a veteran of the United States Airforce, Jerry served his country with honor and
integrity. His courage, discipline, and dedication remained a quiet point of pride for him and a source of inspiration to those who knew
him. Following his time in the service, he built a long and steady
civilian career defined by hard work, humility, and connecting with
people, which turned into lifelong cherished friendships.
Jerry was a devoted and loving father to his daughter, Tanya Deen, who
was the center of his world. Nothing brought him more joy than being
“Dad and Grandpa Jerry”, he was the most loving father and grandfather
a family could ask for. He leaves behind his daughter Tanya;
grandchildren, Corey (Elizabeth), Cameron, and Megan (Ethan);
great-grandchildren, Adelynn, Luna, Alaina, and Oliver; and
step-grandchildren, Adam (Jen) and Molly.
Jerry was known for his selflessness, he dedicated countless hours to
serving and volunteering in many capacities over the years. Helping
others wasn’t something he talked about — it was something he lived,
every day. Those who knew him will remember him for his quick wit,
love of golf and music, genuine kindness, and the way he made people
feel cared for and valued. He leaves behind a legacy rooted in
service, love, and unwavering integrity. Jerry will be deeply missed
by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to share in
his life. A private ceremony will be held at a later date, no public
service is planned.
