John Anthony Raines, known to most as Johnny, 56, of Phenix City, Alabama was blessed to meet Jesus on October 6, 2019. He passed in his home after a long illness.
Johnny was born May 7, 1963. Johnny is remembered by many in his “wonder years” as a skating machine and a good athlete in ball as well as boxing. He was also an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan. He was quite knowledgeable about the Bible and everyone can rest assured and take comfort that we will see him again. Until that day, thank you Lord for blessing so many lives with Johnny. The family gratefully appreciates the love, support and prayers during this difficult time. He was preceded in death by his mother Brenda Suddeth Raines.
Relatives left to grieve his passing are the love of his life and wife, Kathy Hickman Raines of Phenix City, Alabama; daughter and Johnny’s baby doll, Michelle Richardson of Southport, Florida; beloved grandson, Kade Jett of Southport, Florida; father, John Fred Raines (Pat) of Riverview, Florida; his first friend and sister Lisa (Tom) Raines Rovenelli of Dunnellon, Florida; bonus children, Tonya (Jamie) Starnes, Jeremy (Stacy) Richardson, Jeffrey (Kelli) Richardson and five bonus grandchildren; friends and relatives, Eddie and Joanne Hickman, all of Phenix City, Alabama; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephew and many special cousins and friends.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
The Raines Family is being assisted by Georgia Cremation, 7500 Veterans Parkway, Suite A, Columbus, Georgia 31909, 706-577-0055. The family invites you to leave a condolence or share a fond memory of Mr. Johnny below.

RIP sweet Johnny! I have so many memories of you! Back in the day I even had a little crush on you🤫. One memory that stays in my mind is one Saturday night we were all piled in my brother Jimmy’s car headed to skating rink and I had to sit in your lap. Song EASY by Commodores came on and we all were sing to the top of our lungs. Later that night you told me you couldn’t talk to me because Jimmy told you I was off limits! Brothers🙄 got to love’em! 😁😁 We always remained friends through the years! Rest EASY until we meet again❤🙏

Johnny I had not seen you in a while but I did reconnect with your sister Lisa who kept me updated with your life. When I think about you I remember hanging out behind your parents house playing pool and that Farrah Fawcett poster in her red bikini that you had hanging on the wall. I can see you were very loved by many and surely will be missed.
REST IN PEACE

My heart goes out to the family at such a difficult time. I know Johnny will be missed by everyone that loved him. I will always remember him with that smirky smile skating around the rink with his very cool hair blowing in the wind. The girls would line up in awe as they put out their hand in hopes that the skate legend would touch it as he breezed by. His smile would light up every room. The guys wanted to be him and the girls wanted to be with him. His carissima and charm will never be forgotten
