With great sadness we announce the loss of our beloved Katheryn Rae Perry, age 76, of Fayetteville, Georgia. She went to be with her Lord on April 2, 2024. Kathy passed away with loving family by her side after a battle with cancer.
Kathy was born on April 4, 1947, to George Keith and Rachel Elizabeth Perry of Fremont, Nebraska. She was the oldest of seven children and grew up in Fremont, Nebraska.
Kathy graduated from Fremont High School on June 8th of 1965 and immediately started working on June 13th for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. She decided to move from Fremont, NE to the San Francisco Bay area in 1974 and got a job working for the Pacific Bell Telephone Company. When the divestiture of the Bell companies occurred in 1984, she chose to work with AT&T. In 1997, she relocated to Atlanta, GA where she continued to work with AT&T for the remainder of her career. On May 22, 1998, she was able to retire at the ripe age of 50 years old. Throughout her 33-year career in the Communications business, she held multiple positions and was able to retire as an AT&T National Network Service Manager. She was also a member of the AT&T Pioneer Volunteer Organization.
When Kathy was young, she was a competitive roller skater and went to many meets. She participated in and loved sports. As she got older, she was the best coach, scorekeeper, and Super Fan anyone could have.
One of her greatest loves was supporting all her brothers, sister, nephews, and nieces. Her family was very important and always came first in her life. She would travel near and far just to be there for them, be it in sports, music, graduations, or weddings. It didn’t matter where or what, you could always hear her “Woo, Woo, Woo” no matter the event. She was also always there to lend a helping hand whenever needed. If we didn’t know something or needed advice we would say, “ask Kathy”, and somehow Kathy always seemed to know what to do or say. There wasn’t a family member that didn’t feel her love through her cards, not to mention all the confetti that fell out of them, and phone calls. You could always count on Kathy because she was so loving, thoughtful, and caring.
She also enjoyed bowling several times a week with her friends and going out to eat afterwards. She was a loyal friend and cherished her friendships, being a friend to all and a stranger to none. She enjoyed music, dancing,, playing cards and watching TV. She never passed up a good sale and collected Cherished Teddies figurines and Bears.
Kathy joins the love of her life, Dennis Earl Chesnutt, her parents, George Keith Perry and Rachel Elizabeth Perry, and her brother, Ross Keith Perry, in Heaven. She is survived by her brothers Vincent (Debbie) Perry of Fremont, NE, David (Joan) Perry, North Platte, NE, Garland (Debra) Perry of Sharpsburg, GA, Vaughn Perry, North Platte, NE, sister, Nanette (Daniel) Buresh of LaPorte, IN, sister-in-law Linda Perry, North Platte, NE. She would tell you that she had twenty-two nephews and nieces and thirty-two great nephews and great nieces, whom she loved dearly. She loved her family with all her heart!
There will be a “Celebration of Life” on Monday May 6, 2024, at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 257 GA 314 Fayetteville, GA. The visitation will be held from 10:00am -11:00am with the Service starting at 11:00am.
