Kayla Marie Appel, 37, of Stockbridge, GA, passed away September 9, 2024.
Kayla was born August 15, 1987, in College Station TX to Michael Dean and Joan Marie (Rosshirt) Appel. Kayla grew up in Hampton, GA alongside her parents and sister, Marlana, and graduated from Henry County High School.
Fresh into her twenties, Kayla began a career with Gerber Collision and Glass as a customer service representative. She was passionate about her career, and through hard work and dependability advanced through many positions including estimator and up to acting GM. She maintained a long and fruitful career with the Gerber Collision family.
Kayla was exceptionally proud to be a dog-mom of 14 years to her beloved Sakura and Chibbs. She was an enthusiastic Golden State Warriors fan, and an even bigger fan of Steph Curry. Her favorite holiday was Halloween, and she had an avid fascination with serial killers. Kayla also loved going to the beach, especially Key West and Jekyll Island.
Kayla will be remembered for her ability to touch the lives of so many people. She had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. She was extremely thoughtful and cared deeply for her family and friends. While these past 18 months of illness may have dimmed her light, nothing could ever change the amazing and beautiful person that she was.
Kayla was preceded in death by her Grandpa Chick, Grandma Marlene, Aunt Anita, and her beloved fur babies Sakura and Chibbs. She is survived by her mom: Joan Appel (Denise); her dad: Michael Appel (Heidi); her siblings: Marlana Steele (Michael), Cole Bram, and Kelly Appel; her only nephew, whom she adored: Landon Steele; and her precious goddaughter: Lily Thomason. She also leaves to cherish her memory: many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Kayla will be held on October 5, 2024, at 3:00 PM at the Fayette Event Center, 174 North Glynn Street, Fayetteville, GA 30214. This service is invitation only for Kayla’s friends.
