Kazuko “Suzie” Sano Aultman, 92, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018, at Morningside Assisted Living in Columbus, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her husband, SFC (ret.), US Army William W. Aultman; beloved grandson, Nicholas C. Aultman; and her sister and five brothers.
Mrs. Aultman was born on January 4, 1926, in Kobe, Japan, to the late Yozaeman and Yoshi Sano. She was an elementary school teacher in Japan during World War II and later a file clerk in the Post Engineer’s Office at the U.S.-occupied Camp McGill in Yokosuka, Japan. While working at Camp McGill, she met and married William W. Aultman. In 1952, they moved to Columbus, GA, and Mrs. Aultman soon became a U.S. citizen. Later she worked in logistics in Civil Service at Ft. Benning, GA, before retiring.
Survivors include her sons, COL(ret.), US Army William R. Aultman (Barbara) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Donnald B. Aultman (Shawn Goodman, MD) of Portland, OR; daughter, Sonia A. Eakins (Ronnie) of Ellerslie, GA; grandchildren, Sara A. Aultman of Seattle, WA, Hannah F. Aultman, MD (Peter Maxwell) of Chicago, IL, William B. Aultman of Portland, OR, Drew Eakins (Holly) of Arvada, CO, and Rob Eakins (Abbie) of Sunnyvale, CA; and one great-granddaughter, Hazel Lynne Eakins of Arvada, CO.
Burial will be at the Main Post Cemetery at Ft. Benning, Georgia. Per Mrs. Aultman’s request, there will be no funeral or graveside service.

Praying for your family. I remember when I came back to Georgia and l ran into you and your mother. It was so good to see you and I was so pleased to see your mom and that she remembered me after 20 years! I was in awe of your mom and all the things she encouraged and taught you such as sewing and knitting, etc. I know you have some hard days ahead. Lift up your eyes to the Lord, He is your comfort.
