With humble acceptance of God’s will, we announce the passing of Larry Gene Brown born on October 18, 1952. He died on January 17, 2025, after succumbing to a prolonged battle with a serious long-term health condition.
Larry lived most of his life in Connecticut, but in his last years, established residence in Georgia. He was a skilled Welder who worked in a variety of settings during his career, including construction and manufacturing. Larry held his last Welding position at Steel Fab in Manchester, Connecticut.
Larry was an honorable Veteran hero who served our nation with unwavering courage and commitment in the United States Navy. We recognize the sacrifices he made, the long hours spent away from loved ones, and the unwavering dedication to duty that defines a true Navy veteran.
Larry enjoyed listening to R&B music, especially known favorites, Keith Sweat and Ronald Isley. He was a very sharp dresser and loved his Kango hats, Fedora hats, suits, and creased jeans. Larry loved to cook and grill and was famous for his Ribs. He loved spending time with his family, friends, and his dog. His model was it was always “5’o clock somewhere” as he enjoyed a good cocktail every day.
Larry had “the gift of gab”. He spoke fast, confidently, and persuasively. He was no-nonsense, had no problem getting his point across, and possessed a certain charm and influence in front of any audience.
Larry is survived by his sons Toma Brown, Byyatt Bussey, Tyrome Brown-Wiggins, Quinton Robinson, Larry Gene Brown II, and Devin Mitchell (predeceased). He is also survived by his only daughter Sansharee Trimble. He leaves behind several grandchildren, relatives, and a host of friends.
He is preceded by his father Willie Brown and mother Errie Mae Brown. Also brothers Ed, James, Tyrone, Michael, and Victor.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you and acknowledge Alicia Henderson, daughter-in-law. We thank you for your care and concern, diligence, and follow-up surrounding Larry’s health and well-being.
The family will have a “Celebration of Life” instead of traditional funeral services. Larry wanted to focus on the positive memories and achievements of his life. He wanted to have a more uplifting experience that celebrates the life he lived, rather than solely mourning his loss. We invite everyone to attend Larry’s Celebration of Life to be held on February 1, 2025, at 7 pm at The Clubhouse, Auburn Crossing Drive, Auburn, GA 30011 to engage in stories, and memories, and to share photos.
2 Timothy 4:7-8
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing”
Georgia Cremation in Duluth is assisting the family with arrangements.
