Lawrence “Larry” Corwin Valdez was born on October 22nd, 1957 in Tampa, Florida to the late Louis Valdez, Jr. and Ruby Dunson Valdez. From a young age, Larry was always very sociable and seemed to never meet a stranger. He graduated from Robinson High School in Tampa, Florida before moving to Louisville, Kentucky where he called home for over thirty years. He had a love for Louisville and always enjoyed rooting on the Louisville Cardinals, whether from the stands or from the comfort of his home. He enjoyed watching sports, especially basketball and football.
Mr. Valdez worked in the Metro Parks Department for the City of Louisville. He retired in 2006 after twenty-nine years of service before moving to Columbus to be closer to family. He adored his nieces, nephews, and cousins always supporting whatever activity they were involved in. In his most recent years, he enjoyed watching and supporting the local high school sports teams, which became one of his favorite past times.
Larry Valdez, 61, of Columbus, Georgia and formerly of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on November 21, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Survivors include his siblings, Michael Valdez, Steven “Stevie” Valdez, and Tonya Valdez Mahoney; his beloved nieces and nephews, Rachel Valdez, Michael Valdez, Mitchell (Reina) Valdez, Nicholas (Chasity) Valdez, Tiara Mahoney (Jorge) Paulino, and Taniah Mahoney; aunts and uncles, Evelyn Flagler-Shank, Ruth Moreland, and Lebron (Herlina) Dunson, Sr., many cousins, and extended family and friends.
