Linda Joan Wade, 73, of Griffin, Ga, passed away on January 4, 2025.
Linda was born June 27, 1951, in Atlanta, GA to Robert William and Patsy (Parker) Wade. She grew up in Atlanta alongside her parents and her little brother, John. Linda graduated from Osborne High school in Marietta, GA. She went on to earn a Certified Nursing Assistant certificate and did a brief stint as a Certified Nursing Assistant for Dr. Van Buren in Atlanta in the 1970s. Linda later obtained a technical certificate for asbestos removal/building maintenance from Georgia Tech (a school of which she was a HUGE fan) and that certificate brought her immense pride!
Linda moved from Atlanta to Mableton as a youngster and later put down roots in Zebulon, GA where she called home. She began a fruitful career with Southern Bell as a Directory Assistance Operator and worked her way up in a variety of positions, until landing in Property Management at the main big building in Atlanta. She LOVED that job and stayed with Southern Bell through their transition to Bell South, and later when they were bought out by AT&T until she retired, nearly 40 years!
Linda was involved with the Telephone Pioneers of America and was a volunteer with the Festival of Trees in Atlanta throughout the years. She enjoyed reading and could devour a book in no time. After her brain injury and developing ALS, she enjoyed watching YouTube, especially the Perry Mason reruns she discovered were available on the app.
Linda most especially loved spending time with her grandson, Brandon and his family, and taking all her grandchildren to Myrtle Beach for Summer trips. She loved to travel when she could, New Orleans and Colorado were two of her favorite places. Linda was also very proud of having earned her black belt in Taekwondo, she started off as a student and ended up teaching at the same location where she went for lessons.
She was tough, practical, and a loner by nature, but she loved her family. She worked hard her whole life and did her very best as a single mom.
The most honest and best description of Linda would be that she was tough as nails, scrappy, a fighter to the bitter end. She was generous, but not sentimental, a good mom, a solid provider to her children and grandchildren, hard-working, and a feisty smart aleck that relished a witty comeback!
Linda was preceded in death by her grandparents: Lilly and Jarvis Parker; her parents: Robert and Patsy Wade; and her brother: John Wade; and her two mini-Dobermans: Mike and Winston. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter and son-in-law: Charity and Kevin Hurt of Griffin, GA; her daughter and son-in-law: Brooke and Aaron Byas of Powder Springs, GA; and her grandchildren: Tuesday Hurt, Colin Hurt, Brandon Meek ( and his wife Jaela), and Montana Meek (and her husband Muhamad Darwish), great grandchildren: Elias Meek, Oliver Meek and Zayd Darwish, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in memory of Linda to the ALS Association of Georgia.

I am so sorry to loose my dear friend Linda. She was always like a sister to me. We worked together as Bellsouth employees and later know as AT&T. It was as a good job and she loved it. She knew everybody in all the buildings she worked in.
