Lloyd Lee Barnes, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on July 15,
2023, in Atlanta, GA at the age of 75. Lloyd was born on March 22, 1948, in Ames, Ohio to the
late Lloyd and Mary Barnes. Lloyd and his brothers Curtis (Paula) and Earl (Barbara) were
raised on a farm and enjoyed a simple but often difficult life. Lloyd also had two half-sisters
Madonna Morris and Virginia Eileen Rutter (Jeff). Curtis and Madonna preceded him in death.
After high school graduation, Lloyd completed an associate degree at a local community college.
He continued his education and became a licensed Inhalation Therapist (now Respiratory
Therapist.) Because of his caring and reassuring personality, his patients insisted only Lloyd
handle their respiratory problems. Elderly people and children loved him, and he achieved the
highest regard of hospitals and doctors because of his expertise. He was often assigned the most
difficult cases which he handled easily with a smile. This continued throughout his career and
up until his death. Lloyd owned several successful medical services and equipment businesses,
all while maintaining his Respiratory Therapist license. He was a generous mentor to his fellow
respiratory therapists, and he was a much-loved and revered boss. Lloyd knew people and knew
how to wheel and deal with the best. He had many friends throughout the medical profession
and will be sorely missed.
Lloyd was a man of many talents and passions. He and his family enjoyed traveling, boating, and
gardening. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. He and his
wife Kathy enjoyed visiting casinos, and he especially enjoyed scratch-off tickets. They also
often host get-togethers at their family home, or out by their pool. Lloyd loved smoking different
meats on his electric smoker.
Lloyd married his soulmate Kathy Skinner Barnes on February 21, 1981, in Wilmington,
Delaware. They spent the majority of their 42-year marriage in Georgia. They spent the last 28
years at their home in Lawrenceville.
A family man through and through, Lloyd was a father to five children who brought him much joy.
Melissa Barnes Martin (Joel), Gregory Barnes (Melanie), Allyson Barnes Muck, Catherine
Barnes, and Laura Barnes, who sadly preceded him in death.
Lloyd was blessed with many grandchildren. Jared Martin (28), Morgan Browder (Paul) (25),
Matthew Barnes (Sarah) (23), Madison Muck (19), Payton Muck (16), Brianna Barnes (9), Liam
Humbal (7), and Isabella Barnes (4). He had one great-granddaughter, Ruth Browder (1), with a
great-grandson on the way.
Memorial services for Lloyd Barnes will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Tim Stewart Funeral
Home located at 300 Simonton Rd SW, Lawrenceville, GA 30046 at 4 pm. Visitation will be
immediately prior to the service beginning at 2 pm.
Georgia Cremation Duluth is assisting the family with arrangements.

I am deeply saddened to hear of your loss of Lloyd. I know he was the glue for the whole family. Lloyd was my boss when I first moved to Ga and for many years. He and Kathy were my favorite bosses and job I’ve had in 30 years of Respiratory. They even blessed me with another great opportunity when they no longer needed my position. I will always have fond memories of Lloyd and the Barnes family. I am grateful you have such a large close knit family to lean on each other and comfort each other. My prayers are with you all, Shannon Jamison and family

Kathy and family, Lloyd was the best man I have ever met. He treated me like family and I truly loved him. He taught me more about the healthcare industry than anyone at my company did in the fifteen years I worked there. We shared many things, even had cancer at the same time. He kept my spirits up even when he was sick himself. He was the best friend I’ve ever had and I will miss him always.
Kathy, please know my thoughts and prayers are with you and your wonderful family. If there is ever anything I can do to help all you need to do is call. All my love, Bonnie
