Lynda Veronica (Daniel) Higgins was born in St. Vincent on March 7, 1943. She was the last of six children born to Maude Daniel and the second of six born to Arthur Finch O’Bryan.
Lynda accepted the Advent message at a very young age, right along with her mother in a big crusade that was held by the renowned Pastor Hitlal in St. Vincent back in the 50s and has never turned back since. She was a very resilient and committed person which could be seen in everything she put her hand to, whether it was at the workplace, at church or at home. She lived an upright life and might be considered strict by many.
As a young adult, she migrated to Trinidad before a good friend of hers encouraged her to come to the US to pursue studies in nursing. After she qualified as an LPN, she landed her first nursing job at Washington Seventh Day Adventist Hospital in Maryland where she remained for over 30 years until her early retirement in 2006.
She was a member of the Takoma Park SDA church in Maryland where she met and married her husband Egbert Higgins. On November 24th of this year, they would have celebrated 35 years of marriage. Lynda was the love of Egbert’s life.
After she retired, she and her husband moved to Atlanta, GA where she was adopted by you, her loving church family. Many of you can testify of how kind she was. She was a person that continually volunteered her time and talents to help somebody. And she was always baking something, be it carrot cake or fruit cake, even at a moment’s notice – not forgetting her vegetarian meat loaf. Hmm. Even though she was challenged with health issues, she served this church as a Sabbath School superintendent and then as a Deaconess. Niece Cheryl Denise really admired her tenacity.
For Lynda, the roll was called up yonder on August 26, 2019 She answered the call of God, breathed her last breath and is now resting until the Lord’s return.
Lynda is preceded in death by her parents and stepson Jason Higgins. She is survived by her husband: Egbert Higgins of Fairburn; stepdaughters: Beverly Rossini and husband of Italy, Sonia (Vernon) Anderson of Maryland, Yvonne (Brian) Taylor of Ohio, Edwin (Charlene) Higgins of Maryland; nieces Monica, Palmore, Bernadine, Kathrine, Cheryl Denise, nephews Kendal, Winston, Allan, Michael; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many other nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
To God Be the Glory!
