Margaret Ruth Fletcher passed from this life on January 3rd 2025. Margaret was born September 2nd 1946 in Lincolnton, North Carolina to parents John and Ruth Walker. She grew up alongside her brother John in Bessemer City, North Carolina.

She attended Bessemer City High School and continued her education at UNC- Greensboro then obtained her PhD at Georgia State University. She had a successful career as an English teacher and professor in the Atlanta public schools, Gaston County schools, and at Clayton State University. She was known for going above and beyond teaching and educating youth.

Margaret was married to Harold Fletcher until his passing in February of 1996. The couple lived in Atlanta, GA, and Bessemer City, NC before settling in Peachtree City, GA for the past 30 years. Margaret enjoyed spending her time traveling, reading, and gardening. She was known as a loving provider for her family. Family vacations were a cherished time for Margaret.

Margaret is preceded in death by her brother; John Walker of Bessemer City, NC. Margaret is survived by her children; Hal and Kelly Fletcher of Stockbridge, GA, and Mark Fletcher of Peachtree City, GA, and her grandchildren; Christian, Madison, Dylan, Luke and Breda.
