Ms. Marlene Crowder, age 66, of Fayetteville, Georgia went home to be with the Lord, January 4, 2018.
Marlene was born on November 1, 1951 in Beaumont, Texas to the late Willie and Lottie Haynes. At age 3, her family moved to Los Angeles, California, where she spent her childhood alongside her sister, Barbara. She earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from California State University, Dominguez Hills in the late 1970s. She taught preschool for 10 years before transitioning her career into the Information Technology field as technical writer, where she retired after a 25-year career.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and everyone’s favorite aunt. She loved her three daughters tremendously, and maintained a very close relationship with her niece, Kim. She fostered long-distance connections with her families’ newborn babies by calling and speaking with them every day. Upon meeting these new additions to the family, they bonded with her instantly! Marlene was the life of the party. She encouraged and loved people, whether family or friend, and seemed to never meet a stranger. She was genuinely loving and caring, an asset which made her beautiful inside and out.
In December of 1991, Marlene was diagnosed with renal cancer and was given 6 months to live. She received a Make-A-Wish trip to Las Vegas with hopes of maximizing her last days to the fullest. As she and God would have it, she cheated cancer and death itself for an additional 26 years! She passed away at home peacefully.
Marlene is survived by her children: Artrice Love of Fayetteville, Ga., LaTrece (Eric) Love-Bridges of Stockbridge, Ga., and Tiffany Love of Long Beach, CA. Grandchildren: Kiera (Brian) Williams, Cameron McHenry, Jaylynn Bridges, and Chauncey E. Hood III. Great-grandchildren: Michael T. Lewandowski and Kyle Williams. Sister and brother-in-law: Barbara and Clinton Thweatt of West Covina, CA; uncle: Herman Broom of Bakersfield, CA; aunts: Betty Baker of Las Vegas, NV, Ollie Broom of Compton, CA, and Doris Broom of Los Angeles, CA; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and her loving dog, Ghost.
Marlene was a Christian and member of Faith Center Ministries in Walnut, CA. A memorial service will be held for her on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 5:00 PM in the chapel of Georgia Cremation, 1086 Highway 54 West, Fayetteville, Ga. 30214. Friends may visit the family beginning at 4:00 PM, prior to the service.
