Mrs. Mary Jeanne Johnson, 85, of Fayetteville, passed away on June 7, 2020. No services are scheduled at this time.

Mary Jeanne was born in Cherokee County, Georgia on November 13, 1934, the daughter of the late  Seth Harris Johnson and Cora Mae McArthur.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd H. Johnson.  They were married for almost 63 years after meeting at Reinhardt College in Waleska. She worked as a legal secretary in Atlanta, and later retired from a long career with Clayton County Central Services. She did the bookkeeping and was a partner in the family business, and was a member of Fayetteville First Baptist Church for many years.

Other survivors include two daughters, Laura Lyons, Columbia,SC and Kelly Johnson, Athens, OH; and three grandchildren, Seth and Sean Lyons, and Leah Allan; sisters Selma DeBerry, Elayne Darnell, Gayle Johnson, and Shippey Gardner; brothers McHenry Johnson and Donald Johnson, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her siblings: Dashel Johnson, Barbara Ann Gable, Julian Harris Johnson, Johnnie Lee Johnson, Jackie Joe Johnson, and Clara Jane Scott.

    So sorry for your loss! We will always remember Mary Jeanne for her famous fried turkey she was preparing at Christmas at Hunting Island, SC. So happy we got to spent special moments with her and the family. We will never see her again, but will always have her in our hearts and in our memories Hugs.

    Although I came into the family somewhat late in her life, “Muddy” was so kind and always quick to give me hug. …and as stated earlier, her fried turkey fingers were the best.

    So many good memories for sure. visiting her and Lloyd, family Trips to Florida, going with her to see Laura and Kelly,, always stopping for picnics in cemeteries to check out gravestones, always having grapes on road trips, Eating her fried turkey and macaroni salad..She will be missed, but we have those good memories..Laura and Kelly we have yall in our prayers if there is anything we can to just let us know.
