April 18, 1931 – May 9, 2024
Lawrenceville, Georgia – Mary (Jo) Lee Ramsey, 93, of Lawrenceville, GA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 9, 2024. Born on April 18, 1931, in Fort Worth, TX, she was predeceased by her parents, Joseph Calvin and Essie May (Gilbreath) Lee, son Gary Jo (Arnett) Wilkerson, husband Bobby Gene Wilkerson, and husband Howard H Ramsey, who predeceased her just shy of 13 weeks.
She graduated from North Side High School in Fort Worth in 1949. A housewife and mother of three, she earned her certification as a registered pulmonary therapist. She worked for Harris Hospital and Harris Southwest, Fort Worth, retiring in 1998.
Jo loved music and was an accomplished pianist, sharing her talent as a church pianist as the children were growing up.
After 79 years residing in Texas and widowed, Jo married long-time friend, fellow Texas native and widower Dr. Howard Ramsey. She packed her belongings and moved to Georgia to begin a new life and adventure. Howard was a veteran of WWII, retired pastor, missionary and denominational worker for the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention. Residing in the Atlanta, GA, area for their remaining years, Jo and Howard enjoyed travel and ministry. They both loved to share their faith (a lifetime passion of Howard’s) and Howard continued to teach Sunday School classes and preach on occasion into his nineties.
Jo is survived by son Larry Arnett of Fort Worth, TX, daughter Kathryn Arnett of Tucson, AZ, sister La Juana Lee Pennington of Fort Worth, TX., and granddaughter Ashley Stinnett of Tucson, AZ.
Family will have a private graveside service at Barbee Cemetery in Dublin, TX.
Because of her great love for and support of ministry and missions alongside her late husband Howard, in lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent as follows:
