It is with our deepest sorrow, we announce that Matthew B. Gallaher, 46, our most beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend passed away suddenly in his sleep on January 7, 2021. Matt grew up in the suburbs of Atlanta (Roswell & Mableton) and resided in Monroe. He attended South Cobb High School where he played sports. Matt loved Auburn football, bladesmithing, fly tying, fishing, archery, hunting, horseback riding and so much more.
Matt was quick-witted, fiercely loyal and his vast knowledge of all things was astounding. Anything he set out to do, he quickly learned the required skills and excelled. Matt lit up a room with his infectious personality. He LOVED all animals, owning a horse, mini horse, mini donkey, cats, and dogs. One of his foals within an hour of her birth, walked wobbly from her mother to lay her head on Matt’s face as he was crouching nearby. Animals and humans alike knew he was special. He was a loving and perfect son that will forever be missed beyond measure. Matt was a true friend keeping confidences, always generous, and just an overall fun-loving man. He will forever be in our hearts.
Matt was certified in PDR and worked for Dent Wizard. PDR is an art that requires drive, patience, and lots of training. In true Matt fashion, he loved and excelled in it.
Matt was preceded in death by his Papa, Charles C. Covington and Nana, Eva T. Covington. He leaves behind his loving Parents, Lisa and Robert (Bobby) Gallaher, Sister, Ashley Bright (Eric), Nieces, Kaylee Bright and Rylie Bright, Mema, Gloice Crim, Grandmother, Dorothy (Dot) Gallaher, longtime girlfriend, Kim Hudson and extended family that love and miss him including the Turney’s, Byron, Carey, Rodney (deceased), Doug, Nikki, Ali and many nieces and one nephew.
A Celebration of Life befitting of our beloved Matthew will be announced at a later date.
The family is being assisted by Georgia Cremation, 3570 Buford Hwy #202, Duluth, GA 30096 (678) 584-0914 www.GeorgiaCremation.com

Jennifer Sanford says
No words can bring comfort. No amount of time will heal our broken hearts. We are left with our loving memories to push us along in this life without our dear sons. I never met Matt but his mom is a wonderful person and so it’s no surprise that he is just as wonderful, loving and fun. Thinking of you, Bobby, Ashley and the girls. I so wish this wasn’t your journey and that Matt was here on earth to make you laugh, cry, and think (in the words of Jimmy V). Until the day you see his beautiful face again, may your memories and pictures of Matt, make you laugh, cry and think.
Susan and David Darby says
I have waited several days to post comments because Matt means so much to David and me. To us, he was family and friend. Though the family relationship was through his grandmother, Gloice, we had a strong bond. We are blessed to have had years of good memories with him. His love and friendship extended to our Auburn Tailgate group, our family and our extended family. He will be missed so much by all who knew him. Our condolences to Gloice, Kim, his parents and family. We know he will be saying War Eagle in heaven with Hugh!
