Michael Ellis Hanson, age 69, passed away on November 17, 2019. He was the son of Donald Michael Hanson and Dorothy Ellis Hanson. He is survived by his daughter Katherine Michael Hanson and son Matthew Ellis Hanson both of Atlanta and his former wife Alice Thompson Hanson. Also surviving are siblings Marilyn Hanson Grant, Barbara Jean Hanson, Gregory Lewis Hanson; and nieces and nephews David Grant, Adam Grant, Travis Boutwell, Abbie Reed, Brooke Reed, Alan Hodge, Jason Hodge, Jeff Hodge, Kim Shank, Jay McCosh, Ryan Hanson, and Michael Hanson, and Melissa Weaver.

Michael was born in Springfield, Massachusetts and spent the majority of his youth growing up in Columbus, Georgia. He graduated from Columbus High School and attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. He worked at Delta Airlines and ran Hanson Tree Service for many years. He was a member of Peachtree Road United Methodist Church and served on the Administrative Board.

He was a strong family man who enjoyed spending time with his children and supporting their activities.

A memorial service will be held at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church on Saturday November 23, 2019 at 2 pm in the Chapel. Visitation with family will be held immediately following the service in the Hospitality Suite.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Peachtree Road United Methodist Church or the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
