Great friend from my days at Rothschild Junior School and the East Columbus Boys Club. Spent a lot of time at his house and playing ball. Had to wade Bull Creek to get to the Boys Club. Did not matter how hot or cold or how high the water was, we crossed the creek carrying our shoes. We loved to swim and Tommy was a good swimmer in his younger days. We were also football managers at Rothschild Junior High. The team was coached by Fred Lewis and Jim Raines and went 8-0. City Champs. Players like Eddie Curry, Perry Hammond, Wesley Carlie, Larry Sawyer, etc. Life was much simpler then and we enjoyed growing up against the backdrop of the “hippies” , Viet Nam, integration, etc. Enjoyed growing up with Tommy and his family. Integration sent us to different high schools and we took different paths from there but he has a place in my heart. Rest in peace my friend. Buddy Wilkes
