Nada Hull Fincher Kerr

Share

Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

Nada Hull Fincher Kerr was welcomed into Heaven by her Lord and Savior on September 8, 2025.

Born in Atlanta on February 14, 1948, Nada grew up in Conyers, GA. She graduated from Rockdale County High School in 1966. Following that, she attended Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College (ABAC). Throughout her life, people were drawn to her natural warmth and interests, including her ABAC peers who voted her president of the student government and their homecoming queen. While there, she met her college sweetheart, Michael Lee Kerr. Married in 1968, Mike and Nada transferred to the University of Georgia where she graduated in 1970 with her Bachelor of Science in Parks and Recreation.

After spending two more years in Athens supporting her husband as he earned his MBA, the new graduates returned to Conyers. Nada then taught in the Rockdale County School System for five years before becoming a homemaker. She eventually served on the Rockdale County Board of Education from 1981 through 1983.

A job opportunity later saw the family move to Highland Village, Texas, where the busy mother of three became a volunteer firefighter and a substitute teacher. She easily made lifelong friends during her many years in the Lone Star State, and enjoyed keeping in touch with them after returning to Georgia.

Like many in her family, Nada was a member of Rockdale Baptist Church.

Nada adored traveling the world especially with her sisters and extended family. The next adventure was always on the horizon. She especially loved to take cruises. Nada also kept busy with creative pursuits including jewelry making, sewing and smocking clothes when her grandchildren were little, keepsake pieces that are cherished. Equally wonderful in the kitchen, her popular pound cake was always the second stop upon her children and grandchildren’s visits, preceded first by a big, warm, welcoming hug from her. And, it was her passionate cheering for her beloved UGA Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves that drew everyone into gameday fun and competitive chatter.

Nada is survived by her husband of 56 years, Mike, sons Patrick (Amy) and Chad (Karen) and daughter Beth Knape (Jay), along with grandchildren Michael, Tatum, Mallory (Cole), Marley, Crash, Regan, Rees and Poppy, in addition to her siblings Gail Denny, Joe Fincher (Mary) and Jennie Redding, her cousin who was one of “the sisters” Cathy Denny, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was met in Heaven by her mother Margaret Chaffin.

The celebration of life honoring Nada will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Rockdale Baptist Church located at 1295 Smyrna Road, Conyers, GA 30094. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. followed by the service at 11 a.m.

Dear Mike, Pat, Chad, and Beth–
I am so very sad to learn of the loss of your wife and mother. I have such good memories of our friendship and all the good times we shared together and with others. The ladies night out was first organized by her and continued for many years providing everyone with friendship and laughter. She was greatly missed when your move took you back to Georgia. I am thinking of each of you. Love Janie

Mike, Pat, Chad, and Beth – I am so sorry for your loss. May God provide you all with the peace that passes all understanding. I spent two years with Nada and Mike at ABAC. We had a great time being immensely involved in campus activities. I was honored to serve as Vice President under her leadership as President of the Student Government Association. We conducted lots of activities together included being members of the vespers and the Baptist Student Union. She and I among others went to several churches and conducted evening services. Nada and Loma would sing and I spoke during the evening services. One of our evening services was at Zion Hope Baptist Church near ABAC. That is where I met my future wife. We were married the following year. Nada attended our wedding. Gail and I just celebrated our 56th wedding anniversary. Nada had a positive impact on my life. Rest in peace my long time friend!

I met Nada and Mike through a mutual friend about 20 years ago. I found Nada to be a warm, caring and giving person. She grew my favorite fruit in her backyard, muscadines & scuppernongs, and every year allowed my family and I to pick our fill. Our friendship grew beyond the grape picking to visiting throughout the whole year. She always kept me informed about her travels, which she loved. I thank God for allowing our paths to cross, and for giving me such a dear and genuine friend. I will certainly miss her for the rest of my earthly life but I look forward to meeting her again in the presence of our Heavenly Father.

Mike, Pat, Chad and Beth, I am so upset to learn of Nadia’s passing. She is gone too soon. I will always remember the coffee get togethers, the dinners with the neighborhood “girls”, and the costume parties we all attended. We lived in such a wonderful neighborhood. Nada was always so much fun and always willing to help out. Our love to you all. Pat and Carol Cannon
