Nancy was smart, with a mind of her own and her thinking was usually correct, very talented and a great person to be around. Sue could not have had a better partner, in my view.

I am writing this from Darmstadt, Germany, remembering the joyful times we had whenever visiting Bernd and Nan in this town. I am forever grateful that Nan chose to be a part of our family. In Germany, the term “Step-Mother” often has an ambivalent sound to it – I guess the Grimm Brothers ruined the reputation of Step-Mothers for good. But Nan was the best Step-Mother I could imagine, with her unique ability to infuse creativity into every moment, coupled with her unique sense of humor.
I first met Nan at a Barbecue in N.C. where me and my father visited my father’s friend Smitty. Nan and I had a funny and inspiring conversation, and I love the memory that I later introduced her to my father, though I’m not quite sure if my memory fools me here. Fact is, they met at that barbecue, and it was a pleasant shock, when just one year later my father told my sisters and me that this wonderful American Lady would move to Darmstadt and they would live together. She lived here for 18 years, before moving back to the USA a couple of years after my father’s death. We are all grateful that Nan was a part of the Cramer family, and she forever will be in our hearts and memories. Farewell Nan – From Europe with Love. Michael Cramer and Family.

I am so saddened to hear this news. I worked with Nan and Sue for a long , long time and had so much fun. Nan was so funny and her creativity was out of this world. She always found a way to make us laugh. I loved her uniqueness and the joy she would spread to all. Nancy will always be high on my pedestal of people to model after. I love you Nancy. Until we meet again.

I got to know Nancy and Bernd Cramer better at our model airfield in Riedstadt, Germany, in 2007. Every now and then we forgot things at the airport and secured them for each other. Her warmth immediately captivated me. Nancy told me about her horse and dog and I got a few Super 8 videos from Bernd because he was an enthusiastic Super 8 hobby filmmaker. Bernd’s death in 2011 affected me very much and unfortunately I lost contact with Nancy. While doing some more research on the Internet about the whereabouts of old acquaintances, I came across the obituary. I send my heartfelt condolences to the family, I will always remember them fondly!
