Peggy Hanshew Price

July 25, 1941 – December 27, 2025

Peggy Hanshew Price, 84, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on July 25, 1941, in Marion, Virginia, Peggy was the beloved daughter of Robert and Helen Hanshew and the eldest of six children. From an early age, she carried a quiet strength, deep devotion to family, and a nurturing spirit that would define her life.

After high school, Peggy met the love of her life, Lt. Col. Raney M. Price. The two married in 1961, beginning a lifelong partnership grounded in love, resilience, and unwavering support. Shortly after their marriage, Raney joined the United States Army, and together they embarked on the journey of military life, first moving to Tampa, Florida following his completion of basic training.

Peggy and Raney raised three children: Gregory Wayne Price, Karen Renee Price, and Kevin Scott Price. As a proud military wife, Peggy managed the home front through two of Raney’s tours in Vietnam and multiple overseas assignments, including two stationings in Germany. Over the course of Raney’s career, the family lived in 19 different locations—each move met with Peggy’s grace, adaptability, and steadfast devotion to keeping her family grounded.

After Raney’s retirement from the Army, the family settled in Tyrone, Georgia. Having devoted 23 years as a homemaker, Peggy entered the workforce as a teller at Bank of the South. She remained a loyal and dedicated employee through numerous mergers and name changes, ultimately retiring from Bank of America in 1991.

Peggy’s greatest joy in life was her family—especially her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Known lovingly as “Mamaw,” she was adored by her grands and great-grands alike, whose ages ranged from 1 to 42. Her love was constant, unconditional, and deeply felt by each of them.

Peggy also found joy in simple pleasures. For many years, she was an avid bingo player, enjoying both the game and the camaraderie it brought. Later in life, she developed a deep love for birds, delighting in their presence and remarkable diversity. She could identify birds not only by sight, but by their songs—a testament to her attentiveness and appreciation for the beauty around her.

Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Raney Milton Price; her eldest son, Gregory Wayne Price; her daughter, Karen Renee Price Timbs; her son-in-law, Ramon Timbs; her grandson, Chase Price; her parents, Robert and Helen Hanshew; and her brothers, Bobby Hanshew, Mildean Hanshew, and Eddie Hanshew.

She is survived by her youngest son, Kevin Scott Price (PJ) of Marietta, Georgia; her grandchildren, Chris Price (Casey), Alex Price (Jill), Cullen Timbs, Hayes Price, and Walker Price; her great-grandchildren, Cadence Price, Carter Price, Nic Pannell, Charlie Price, Clyde Timbs, and Rowan Price; her siblings, Darrell “Tom” Hanshew (Rachael) and Janice Osborne; and many beloved nieces and nephews with whom she shared close and meaningful relationships. She also leaves behind her loving and faithful companion, Beaux, a 90 pound Chow mix “lapdog” who made sure she was never lonely and helped her finish all of her meals.

A memorial service will be held at Parrott Funeral Home and Crematory, 8355 Senoia Road, Fairburn, Georgia, on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10:00–11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Peggy and Raney’s honor to Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnels to Towers Foundation, causes that reflect their lifelong commitment to service and sacrifice.

Peggy will be remembered for her quiet strength, steadfast love, and the deep devotion she gave to her family. Her legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured and the lives she touched so gently and so completely.
