Mr. Philip Henry Moody, 98 years old, of Fayetteville, GA, passed away unexpectedly on December 24, 2023.
Philip was born May 2, 1925 on the family farm in Lenexa, KS to Perry Stuart and Frances Alyth (Lisk) Moody. The beloved farm had served as their family homestead for over 100 years. He grew up in Kansas City, MO alongside his parents and six siblings. Mr. Moody graduated from Paseo High School in Kansas City. After graduating from high school he and his life long best friend Charles Waggener volunteered for the war and after returning from WWII went on the GI bill to University of Missouri, where he studied Business. Philip worked in Commercial Real Estate with Mosely & Company in Kansas City and later was the proud owner of United Employment in Colorado Springs, CO.
In 1956, Philip met the love of his life while attending Community Christian Church. The couple wed September 14, 1957, and were married for 61 blissful years.
Philip was a devout Christian and held positions in the church of Elder, Chairman of the Board, and Sunday School teacher. He was also a proud member of the Fraternal Organization for Men, The Shriners, a Freemason member, and an exultant member of the Sons of the American Revolution (S.A.R.) Mr. Moody later joined the Rose Society as a way to promote his appreciation for roses.
He enjoyed live music, dancing with his wife, entertaining, and gardening. He loved dinners with his family, especially his 4 great-grandchildren. He had a love for horses, especially his pinto named Doc. He was a very loving man who always put his family first.
Philip marched on the Shrine drill team for over 10 years. He served as the Boy Scout Master when his son Justin was an Eagle Scout and was chairman of the cub scouts. He was essential in establishing a church day care center that is still flourishing today. Philip was also President of Colorado Springs Parkinson Support group and established the Parkinson’s annual Walk a thon which is still active today.
Phil will be remembered as the life of the party! His motto in life was “Be proud of everything you do!” He was also a die-hard patriot, having served in the Navy during WWII. He was his family’s favorite veteran!
Philip was preceded in death by his wife: Elizabeth Keller Moody; his parents: Perry Stuart and Frances Alyth Lisk Moody; his sisters: Elizabeth Moody Foster and Marjorie Moody Henderson; and his brothers: Perry Stuart Moody (Jud), Thomas Moody, and Edward Moody. He is survived by his daughter Laura Moody Jurecic (Jeffrey), and his son Justin Philip Moody, both of Fayetteville; his grandchildren: Nicole Lacis (Nick) and Lauren Jurecic M.D.; great-grandchildren: Lila, Oliver, Madilee, and Mason; his sister: Rosemary Moody Valentine of Mason, OH; sister in law, Katie Moody of Colorado, along with many nieces and nephews he cherished.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Mr. Moody at his favorite BBQ restaurant in Kansas City.

I will forever remember you as my fun Uncle Philip. Although not blood, you were like a father to me when I would spend weekends with Laura in Kansas City. Your kind heart and spirit will live on in your Laura, Justin, your grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The world was so very blessed to have you in it. With love and prayers for the family.
