Richard Dean Taylor, 65, of Wetumpka, Alabama, passed away on October 4, 2023, in Montgomery. He was born on October 2, 1958, in Montgomery, Alabama. Richard was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was known for his unwavering support of the Bama football team and his passion for fishing. Richard also enjoyed spending time with his family and organizing Christmas scavenger hunts. Golfing and bowling were among his favorite pastimes.
Richard had a successful career as a master plumber. He worked for Edwards Plumbing Company before starting his own business, Taylor Plumbing, which he later retired from.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Tammy Taylor, his children Joshua Taylor, Brooke Moses (Chris), and Hunter Taylor (Katherine), as well as his grandchildren Kennedy Taylor, Copeland Taylor, Khloe Taylor, Kylee Taylor, and Emersyn Taylor. He is also survived by his sisters Dorothy Taylor Luna (Norman), Liz Taylor Hayes (Pete), Connie Taylor Petty, Donna Taylor Faulk (Rusty), brother-in-law Woody Thigpen, sister-in-law Willadean Taylor, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Lee Taylor and Eleanor Wilson Taylor, as well as his sisters Linda Taylor Bandy and Tammie Taylor Thigpen, and brothers Danny Wayne Taylor and Joseph M Taylor.
A memorial service to celebrate Richard’s life will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 3:30 pm at the Church of the Highlands, located at 4255 Taylor Rd., Montgomery, Alabama. The service will be officiated by Connor Montgomery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Church of The Highlands Outreach Program. In the comments section of the donation, please put “In lieu of flowers for RT.”
