May 27, 1961 – July 2, 2025
Richard William Gropp passed away peacefully on July 2, 2025, in Cumming, Georgia. He was deeply loved by his family and friends, remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, and gentle soul. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
Richard is survived by his devoted parents, William August Gropp and Doris Elizabeth Gropp; and his loving sisters, Elizabeth Ann Jamieson (John Edward Jamieson) and Wendy Ann Marovich (Todd Eric Marovich). He was a proud and adoring uncle to William McKittrick Jamieson (Andye) and their son, Blair; Elizabeth “Cissy” Jamieson Harper (Austin) and their children, Henry and August; and to his youngest nephew, Todd Henry “TH” Marovich. Richard also shared a lifelong friendship with Erica Whitney, who is like family to us all.
Richard had a deep love for the outdoors and a passion for both music and hockey. A talented drummer in his high school band, Richard also enjoyed playing the keyboard. He was an avid hockey player, participating on several travel teams, and a devoted fan of the sport. Richard found peace and joy in nature, gardening, fishing, and simply being outside. His faith in God was a quiet but steady source of strength throughout his life.
Richard is now reunited in eternal peace with his grandparents, Henry and Louise Gropp, Richard and Ruby Munn, and his uncle, Henry Gropp. His family finds comfort in the thought of them together, held in love.
When Richard was especially joyful, he would often smile and say, “Wunderbar”, the German word for “Wonderful.” In his honor, may you carry a bit of his light with you… and may your days be nothing short of Wunderbar.

My heart broke when I heard the news of Richard’s passing. To me, he will always be the cool big cousin who brought fun times with him when he came to visit. He was the best ringleader for adventures, from fun times at the creek, to building bird houses with wood scraps, and of course, our awesome roller coasters.
I hope you’ll all find peace in knowing that now he is free from his struggles, but that he will always be remembered and loved by those he left behind.
