Robert “Bob” Michael Gallagher, passed away on November 6, 2024, at the age of 78. Bob was born on June 21, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan. He was the third son (of four) born to Frank and Marjorie Gallagher. He graduated from Port Huron High School in 1964. Bob was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the Army from 1967 to 1969. He married the love of his life, Ceci Smith on April 29, 1972, and they had two daughters, Brandi and Amber. In 1973, he went to work for the North American Benefit Association (NABA) in Port Huron, Michigan. He worked at NABA until 1985 before moving the family to Atlanta, Georgia, settling in Tucker. In 1988, he began a long career at Primerica in the Information Technology department. Most of his tenure was in upper management until his retirement in 2017. After 35 years in Tucker, Bob and Ceci moved to Auburn, GA in 2020.
Bob never met a stranger. You won’t find anyone who didn’t love him. He was rarely in a bad mood and had such an easy disposition. After moving to Georgia, the family would go back up to Michigan every summer for the Mackinac Boat Race. In 2006, they purchased a house in Marysville, MI where they would start spending their summers. Bob always looked forward to his summers in Michigan. He enjoyed attending concerts, car shows and spending time with family and friends. Bob had many interests. He enjoyed working on their cars and detailing them. He was always tinkering with computers. He loved music. He went from listening to vinyl records to making cassettes of his favorite singers to downloading those same timeless tunes to his laptop and MP3 players. Some of his favorite artists were Pink Floyd, the Doors, the Rolling Stones, the Beach Boys, and the Beatles. But mainly, he enjoyed time with his family. He loved Ceci and his girls with his whole heart. He was truly one in a trillion and will be forever missed.
Bob is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ceci. Daughters Brandi (Tim) Vanderhoff and Amber Gallagher. Grandsons Hudson (16) and Lawson (10) Vanderhoff and Luke Gallagher (2). Brothers Frank (Shirley) Gallagher, Rick Gallagher, and John (Carolyn) Gallagher. Brother-in-law Stewart Smith. And sister-in-law Lee Smith. Also surviving him are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws Jerry and Carol Smith, two brothers-in-law Steve Smith and Shawn Smith, as well as two sisters-in-law Carmela Smith and Kay Gallagher.
Bob’s wishes were to be cremated and a Celebration of Life held in Port Huron in July 2025.
