Ronald Clay Miller, born on May 6, 1946, in Riverdale, Maryland, to Vivian Ruff Miller and Esty
Scova Miller, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026. He spent his childhood growing up in Virginia, where he was nurtured by a close-knit family and developed a lifelong commitment to service, learning, and community that would guide him throughout his life.
Ron was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Marta Miller, and a loving father to his children, Andrea Miller Taps and Sean Miller. He was also a cherished grandfather to Payton Taps and Parker Taps, whose lives were brightened by his kindness, patience, and quiet wisdom, leaving a lasting impression on his family. He shared a lifelong bond with his sisters, Bonnie Harlow and the late Bobbie Kingsbury, whose love and presence shaped his life in meaningful ways.
Ron served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Bolivia, an experience that profoundly shaped his worldview and reinforced his dedication to public service and global health. He pursued higher education at Bridgewater College and Georgia State University, combining intellectual curiosity with a deep concern for others.
Ron dedicated his professional life to advancing the mission of nonprofit organizations, serving as an administrator for the American Lung Association, the Arthritis Foundation, and Andean Rural Health. He was also passionate about education and shared his knowledge by teaching sociology at Georgia State University, where he inspired students through his compassion, insight, and thoughtful perspective.
Above all, Ron will be remembered as a wonderful spouse, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His life was defined by service, integrity, and genuine care for others. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the values he so faithfully embodied.
