Ronald O. Wasdin

Share

Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

March 1,1940 – January 6, 2025

With extreme heartache, we are sharing the passing of my Dad, Ronald O. Wasdin. He left us in the early minutes of January 6, 2025 at the age of 84 in Fortson, Georgia. He was surrounded by family at home where he wanted to be, in his recliner. He was able to watch Sunday football. He passed peacefully shortly after midnight holding my mom’s hand, his loving wife of almost 40 years.

My Dad was preceded in death by his parents, Huey & Izella Wasdin, his best friend and younger brother, Larry Wasdin, along with two great granddaughters, Hartleigh Ray Williams and Lorelai Elizabeth Pace.

My Dad proudly served in the United States Navy Submarine Force from 1959 – 1963. While in the hospital, he stated he would proudly serve our country again. He retired from Pratt & Whitney in 1995. He loved vacationing in Fernandina Beach, Florida every summer while spending time with family, surf fishing and playing quarter poker. All of us meant the world to him, as he did to us.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn. His natural children, Ronald M.Wasdin, Christopher A. Wasdin, Derek E.Wasdin (Nancy) and three step-children, Michelle L. Kirkland (Keith), Lori L. Rambish and Stacy A. Hott. Grandchildren Ladonna Sadler (Kris), Lucas Wasdin, James Wasdin, Casey Wasdin (Natasha), Ashley Haler, Jessica Edrew (Curtis), Andrew Moore, Slade Haler, Austen Eunice, Chelleigh Pace (Justin), Matthew Rambish II, Leo Wasdin, Peter Wasdin. Great grandchildren LaBella Sadler, Kayden Wasdin, Gabriel Edrew, Samson Williams, Adler Williams, Dahlia Williams, Allison Pace, and Marigold Williams (Papa nick named her Curtistina). He is also survived by two nieces, Lori Pollock (Rob) and Dana Ashmore (Shawn), two nephews, David Wasdin & Lance Wasdin (Samantha) along with great nieces and nephews.

Technically I am his stepdaughter but he always called me his daughter. He chose to be our Dad, he loved us like he had always been our dad. He wasn’t there for our firsts, but we don’t remember them anyway. He was always there for our most important firsts and that’s what mattered to us the most. In every life, I will choose you as my Dad. You are a special man and the best Papa. You are so loved and will be forever missed.

Memorial services will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the chapel of Cox Funeral Home, 240 Walton St., Hamilton, GA 31811.

Georgia Cremation – Columbus is assisting the family with the arrangements.

The person who wrote his obituary does not view things the same as his biological children. Ron, Derek and Chris Wasdin wanted and received only love from our father. Since his passing our father’s personal possessions have been pawned by the person angling with this obituary and a known thief named Andrew.
Like vultures, some only swarm when they can feed. Like at the end of my fathers life, the vultures like Lori appeared.
