Ruby H. Gleaton, born April 22, 1935, peacefully passed away on February 23, 2026. She lived a life marked by dedication, warmth, and a deep love for children and education.

Ruby devoted much of her professional life to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher with Atlanta Public Schools. Teaching was not simply her profession—it was her calling. She approached her work with patience, compassion, and commitment, leaving a lasting impact on countless students who remember her fondly. Her love for children and her passion for learning were evident to all who knew her, and her students returned that love many times over.

She pursued higher education with determination, earning a master’s degree from Atlanta University, now known as Clark Atlanta University. Her dedication to education reflected her belief in the power of knowledge and the importance of nurturing future generations.

Ruby was also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, reflecting her lifelong commitment to scholarship, service, and sisterhood.

She was known for her beauty, warmth, and vibrant personality. Ruby had a presence that brought light into the lives of those around her and will be remembered for the kindness and spirit she shared with family, friends, colleagues, and students.

She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly sixty years, Franklin Gleaton, Sr. She was also a devoted mother to her son, Franklin Gleaton, Jr., who preceded her in death.

Ruby H. Gleaton leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication to education. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her and by the many lives she touched throughout her lifetime. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. 💐
