Share

Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

Samuel (“Sam”) Joseph Wagner, age 81, went home to be with his heavenly Father, on Feb 4, 2025, at his residence at Arbor Terrace, in Hamilton Mill, GA. Sam was born on March 1, 1943, in Ft Wayne, Indiana, to his parents Herman and Mildred “Ruth” Wagner.

He is survived by his siblings, Paul (Margaret) Wagner, Dan (Connie) Wagner, and Mary (Allan) Cleveland, his children, Rebecca (Terry) Moore, Rachel (Eric) Boatman, Mark (Amy) Wagner, and Gwen Wagner, along with 6 grandchildren, Gabriel and Aaron Moore, Micah and Bethany Boatman, and Emma and Logan Wagner.

He is preceded in death by his parents Herman and Ruth Wagner and his stepmother Helen Wagner.

A veteran of the United States Army, Sam earned his BS and MS from Bowling Green University, and PhD in computer science from The Ohio State University.  Sam holds several patents in his field.  He enjoyed competitive sports and games, and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, playing checkers, ping pong, or basketball. He loved God, reading his Bible, and discussing end times prophecy.

A formal funeral service is not planned at this time. He will be cremated, according to his wishes, and laid to rest at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Ossian, IN, where his birth mother is buried.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Alzheimer’s research (https://alzfdn.org/donate/).

Georgia Cremation in Duluth is assisting the family with arrangements.

Sam was my next younger brother. We were always best friends who did everything together. We especially enjoyed neighborhood football and basketball games. Sam would keep me updated on his projects. He sent me letters about end time prophecies he had diligently studied. I’m comforted to know I will see brother Sam when I get to heaven.
