“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.”
Sanjay Prakash passed away peacefully at the age of 59, surrounded by family, at 11:15 PM Eastern Time on February 13th, 2022 in his home in Duluth, GA. As a husband, father, son, brother, and uncle he leaves behind his wife, Jyoti Prakash of Duluth, GA; sons, Arnav Prakash, the elder, and Abhinav Prakash of Duluth, GA; mother, Shreemati Pushpa Prasad of Patna, Bihar; and sister, Seema Sinha of Ranchi, Bihar.
Sanjay was born on June 30, 1962, in Patna and spent his early life in multiple locales of Bihar. He got his undergraduate education in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, followed by an MBA in Patna. Sanjay emigrated to The United States in 1991, arriving in Georgia where he later completed his Masters in Information Systems in 1993. After his marriage to Jyoti Prakash in 1992, the couple relocated over the following years to New Jersey, North Carolina, and finally back to Georgia. During this time, they welcomed their sons; Arnav in the year 1998, and Abhinav in 2000. Sanjay was an avid and passionate community organizer; he poured limitless quantities of time, energy, and effort into growing and flourishing multiple Bihar, Jharkhand, and India-centric cultural associations based across the Eastern US.
Sanjay was unbridled laughter. Sanjay meant an enduring passion for life: great love of music, movies, travel, food, friends, playing cards, parties, and more. A loving husband, father, and son, an unending reservoir of energy, few are so well loved by so many. Sanjay was a unique soul who enjoyed life, people, and socializing; always warm, welcoming, and complimentary of others. Reliably there for anyone in need, he looked death in its eyes with an unblinking courage and strength. Sanjay, today we are all poorer, and our loss is heartfelt. But you have left a treasure trove of memories which will always enrich us. Rest in peace, dear beloved, for though you are departed, you shall never be forgotten.
A private ceremony of Hindu Cremation will be held for Sanjay’s wake at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 300 Simonton Road, SW, Lawrenceville, GA from 1 to 3 PM on February 15, 2022. Please note that masks will be required for this event.
If you are able, please consider donating what you can to NOBA GSR – an organization run by Netarhat School Alumni that is undertaking multiple social welfare initiatives in Bihar, such as tree planting, farmer and child education, and sanitary pad distribution schemes. The successful expansion of these initiatives would bring Sanjay great joy. Please contact Alok Kumar (650) 265-7503; he will be present at the event.

Our heart goes out to Sanjay Prakash family during this difficult loss.
He brought so many happy moments in his life and left us with a treasure trove of memories. We will never be able to forget him and we are praying for him in this difficult time.
The best way to honor someone who is not with us anymore is to continue living our life and keep their memory alive through everyday events.
The kind and gentle man he was, We are sure the one who made him , realized how special he was, to be left in the midst of this cruel world. He belongs to a place that is kind, a place that is away from all the hassles of this world.
It’s difficult to move on when you know he is gone … gone beyond our reach, leaving this mortal world behind. But he left us memories that no one can take away, memories that will bring forth a smile and conquer the painful tears. It is time to remember them smiling, till we see them next in heavenly bliss.
Life is eternal, and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing. May his spirit experience celestial peace and heavenly bliss.
In deepest sympathy

Sanjay was so passionate about bringing people together with no self interest. As CHS school friends, we had long forgotten and moved on with our lives. He took initiatives and brought several of us together and our old memories were rekindled.
Lately, we were regularly in touch and he would always pick up my phone, never brought up his pain and sufferings. He was always happy to celebrate our happiness and hid his own pain. He departed from this world smiling and left us all crying for more of his company. He has left a void in our life which will never be filled. Good bye my friend. I will miss the long chat we often had on phone. I know that God has a special place for you in His heart as you had for all of us in yours. Om Shanti.

I had heart to heart connection with you and I was feeling special. I realized recently that you made everyone feel equally close and special to you. Anyone’s special bonding with you was more due to you than them. You had unlimited love for each one of us in your heart. I got a lot to praise, admire, and adore you for but all that is irrelevant now. What is relevant is that you will forever remain in my heart, Sanjay ji. I swear I will always, always, always miss you and remember you. May your soul remain in peace. Om Shanti.

Sanjay & I grew up together in a small industrial township, Patratu in erstwhile South Bihar. Later we were batch mates & hostel mates in high school in Varanasi. Sanjay has always been the life of every reunion we have had ever since with his indomitable smile & witty recall of our silly high school pranks.
Quite a few of us knew that Sanjay was looking death in the eye, yet it is truly amazing how he would not even let a fold appear of his forehead. Most of us were constantly praying & hoping against all odds the he would recover or defy death for a while. But I guess God had other plans & needed him more by his side than us. Though it’s time say adieu to your physical self dear friend with a heavy heart, you will always remain in our hearts through your charismatic smile & benevolent work. May your lively soul rest in eternal peace in your heavenly abode. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. Om Shanti
