In Loving Memory of Sarah Emmie Bellamy (86). Sarah passed away on February 16, 2026. She was a kindhearted and loving mother, sister and friend whose generous spirit touched many lives.
Sarah was born on March 15, 1939, to the late Otis and Emmie [Davis] Alexander. She grew up in Phenix City, Alabama. She graduated as the valedictorian from Mount Olive High School. She moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she was a seamstress and made wedding dresses for Alfred Angelo Bridal Company. She moved to Columbus Georgia where she continued to sew clothes for others. She also was a homemaker and was known for her banana pudding. Sarah was married to James Bellamy Sr. They had two sons, James Bellamy Jr. and Jerald Bellamy.
Sarah was baptized on March 29, 1969, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was a devoted member of the South and Riverpark Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. On September 1, 1999, she became a regular pioneer. She loved her God Jehovah and loved helping others learn about the Bible and God’s hope for the future. When someone passed away, she would always say with full confidence, “we will see them again, they will be back“. Now she has that same hope of an earthly resurrection. Even though advanced age limited her mobility, she still managed to share Bible truths by means of letter writing. This is the same way she learned the truth, through her older sister Carrie, from Pennsylvania. Even while sick in the hospital and in the rehabilitation centers, she was still sharing bible truths with the medical staff.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Bellamy Sr. and son James Bellamy Jr. Her brother Arthur Alexander and sisters Bertha Alexander and Carrie [Alexander] Thomas. She leaves behind to cherish her memories her son Jerald Bellamy and daughter-in-law Darlene Bellamy, her loving baby sister Julia [Alexander] Dixon, her brother Clarence [Jeanette] Alexander and sister-in-law Lena Alexander. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving brothers and sisters in the congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
A memorial service for Sarah will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at 5:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 9947 Veterans Pkwy, Midland, Georgia 31820. Zoom Information: Meeting ID 454443111 Passcode 675499

My Dear Sis. Sarah was a kind, beloved close mother figure to me, my pioneer partner when I lived in Georgia and a close family friend. She was both beautiful inside and out. She was so faithful to Jehovah and it was pure love and heartfelt, not hypocritical. Though temporarily gone she is terribly missed but never forgotten. Job 14:13-15

With Sarah’s assistance, I learned to use all of the tools that I had been given by my teacher that had moved to another congregation. She was the sweetest and most supportive sister imaginable. I started pioneering in the late 80’s while working full time and Sarah supported me by going out in the ministry with me after I had worked my 8 hours. Looking back on that, it was truly a big sacrifice that she made for me at that time. I have always cherished her and she will always have a special place in my heart.

I, too, loved Sister Sarah Bellamy. She was calm, kind, soft-spoken, and took to heart Matthew 24:14:”And this good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” Sarah loved people and reached as many as she could with the life-saving Good News of Jehovah God’s Kingdom. She’ll be back and I can’t wait to see her beautiful smile again. 🌹

We warmly remember sister Bellamy! We were in the same congregation on 9th street. She faithfully attended the meetings with Junior and Gerald! Occasionally, Mr Bellamy would attend as well! Later I believe he got baptized. I’m not sure, but we all have much to look forward to in the near future!
We mourn with those who mourn, but soon we will all rejoice!
Love,

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Losing a mother (Sis Bellamy )leaves such a tender space in the heart. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
One scripture that brings real comfort at times like this is found at John 5:28, 29:
“Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out…”
What a beautiful promise — that Jehovah has not forgotten our loved ones, and there will be a time when we can welcome them back again. The resurrection hope is real, and it reminds us that death is not the end.
May Jehovah give your family peace and strength in the days ahead.
Love, The Barnes Family
Missy Maclin says
My sincerest condolences to Jerald and the family for your loss. Sis Bellamy touched so many not only in the Ministry but across the organization. After I was baptized she showed me what it means to have The Pioneer Spirit. It was her mild temper and soft spoken voice that would console, correct and speak love into me. Sometimes all at once. She was truly an exemplary Christian. We are all saddened by this, yet look forward to seeing her in the New World. May Jehovah help you all to have peace and give you strength.
Love,
Missy & Breanna Maclin

Sis Bellamy helped us to see what Jesus meant when he said to love each other; Sis Bellamy was in a different congregation but when I did see her, the love was always there and you felt it.
Willie Ann Countryman says
Sister Bellamy was a very loving, kind Sister that helped me and my mother to learn a lot about the promise that Jehovah made for us to live forever by taking in knowledge of him and his son Jesus Christ never will forget the first time that I attended a assembly program with her I asked her what should I bring? She told me just bring yourself. I have lunch for us and she had made tuna fish sandwiches little that I knew they were her favorites look forward to seeing her again.

Jerald/Darlene thank you so much for sharing such a sweet and soft spoken mother and sister with me. When we were assigned to RiverPark Congregation in 2009 I got close and clung to her dearly. One time she told me “you know you can work with others” and I said I know but somehow we would always end up together. She was truly a dear to me and my family. She attended Pioneer School with my daughters. She will truly be missed. The resurrection hope is deep in our hearts, looking forward to welcoming her, Mr Bellamy and James back. Love dearly

Deborah H Morgan says
To Gerald and family. Sarah Bellamy was one of the kindest, loving, sweetest, and accomodating people I ever had the pleasure to meet. She loved our God Jehovah, that made her even more special. 47 years ago she was singularly responsible for the beauty of my wedding. I’m sure her kind heart made others love her as I did. This is not a period in her life, but, a comma, a pause. She will luve again. She’s paid her wage for sin (Romans 6:23), but the gift God gives is everlasting life. We look forward to that day.
Laverne Powell says
