Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.
Scott and Shirley Leavitt were a couple who loved each other and their family deeply. They were married in Methuen Massachusetts on October 29th 1976. It was said that after 46 years of marriage they still acted as newlyweds.
They always enjoyed spending time with family and they had a large extended family. They loved camping, cookouts, throwing darts and bags, playing 45’s (that’s a card game for those of you not from the valley) and family game nights with their children and grandchildren. They welcomed everyone as family and as they moved from Massachusetts, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and back to Georgia they made new family everywhere they lived. They were kind loving people with large hearts.
Scott and Shirley always said they couldn’t imagine life without each other. Even though they were taken too soon, we find comfort in knowing they left this life together. We are glad to know they didn’t have to suffer losing each other.
Shirley will always be remembered as a kind loving soul. She was always a joker and made everyone smile and laugh. Scott will always be remembered as a “papa bear” who loved and cared for all of his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
They are survived by their son Scott Leavitt, Jr. and wife Aimee, Daughter Jessica Coleman, Daughter Stefanie Sowa and husband Brett as well as four grandchildren Kellen, Jak, Alexis, and Lydia.
Scott is also survived by John K and Margaret Leavitt, their daughter Erin Leavitt and her son Andrew. Their daughter Shawna Amoroso, husband Steve and their children Annabelle and Teddy. Bruce and Laurie Leavitt, and their son Andrew Leavitt.
Shirley is also survived by Linda and Louis Smith, their children Louis, Steven, Laurie, Shannon, Erica, and Aaron. Catherine and Walter Michaels, their children Greg, and Andrea. Sheila and Robert Baker, their children Kelly, Stephen, and Laraine. Douglas (predeceased) and Kathy Hamel, their children Sarah, Karie, and Leanne. Jack and Deborah Hamel, their children Michelle, Michael, Ashley, and Austin. Cynthia and Forrest Pettengil, their children Rachael, Garbrielle, and Forrest Jr.. Roy and Jean Hamel, their children Megan, and Amanda. Leslie and Mark Fallisi, their children Jamie, Jules, and Joseph.
We are grateful for the time we had with our loving parents. We will always remember the love they shared and the memories they gave us. We hope the world will remember them as people who loved life and family.
A Memorial Service for Scott and Shirley will be held Saturday July 22, 2023, at 5:00 pm in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home, located at 10170 Hwy 19 N, Zebulon, GA 30295. Visitation for family and friends of the Leavitt’s will take place 1 hour prior to the service.

Nothing in this life could have prepared us for this senseless loss of their lives. I am so glad our families could be there for each other. You will always be a part of our hearts no matter how far the distance. Your mom and dad are also in our hearts forever. We love you all, you are family, families are forever. In this life and the next, we love you and will be sorry forever
