Ms. Sharon Lee Jones, age 68, of Sharpsburg, passed away February 12, 2019.

Sharon was born on June 19, 1950 in Atlanta to the late George and Maxine Jones. She was raised in Atlanta and a longtime resident of Buckhead. She attended Middle Georgia College in Cochran, GA. Sharon spent over 15 years working with the Association of Battered Women in Clayton County. Her heart was with her work with battered women.

Sharon was a lover of animals, particularly dogs. She enjoyed antiquing and collecting porcelain dolls. For Sharon, a trip to Goodwill was more like a treasure hunt. She spent her leisure time reading true crime novels by Ann Rule. She loved to eat pickles, french fries and drink Coca Cola. She was a very humble and generous born-again Christian. Sharon will be remembered as stubborn, independent, and the world’s best Mema to her grandchildren.

Sharon is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Kimberly and Drew Hobgood of Sharpsburg, Melissa and Shane McMurdy of Washington, PA; grandchildren: Andrew, Corey, and Morgan; sister and brother-in-law: Marsha and David Myers of Fayetteville; niece: Katie Myers; nephew: Kenneth Myers and his wife Shawna; beloved grand-dogs: Stella, Bailee and Daisy.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Southwest Christian Care Hospice for their compassion and care for Sharon during her final days of life.
